Toronto heat wave doesn’t deter Invictus Games fans

Bringing in 550 competitors from 17 nations and featuring 12 events, the Invictus Games are being held in Toronto for this first time since they were founded in 2014 by Prince Henry of Wales. Featuring paralympic style events, the games are held annually with the competitors being sick, wounded, and veteran army personnel. Referendum vote sparks backlash in Catalonia

By: Daniel Caudle Catalan leader Carles Puigdemont has called for international mediation to resolve a stand-off with Madrid. “It’s not a domestic matter, it’s obvious that we need mediation,” Puigdemont told reporters. The call for help comes after Catalonia held a referendum vote for independence in which officials say 90 per cent voted for independence. Voters were met with fierce opposition from the police who tried to block voters resulting in almost 900 people being injured. According to witnesses the riot police used rubber bullets and batons as a show of force to discourage people from voting. Massacre in Las Vegas leaves 59 people dead

  By:  Daniel Caudle Two Canadians have been killed, and two have been injured following the deadliest mass shooting in U.S history which left 58 people dead and over 515 people injured in Las Vegas. According to police a 28-year-old Alberta woman and a 25-year-old man from B.C. were among the victims, with two people from Manitoba sustaining injuries. Police identified 64-year-old Steven Paddock as the lone gunman in the attack. He opened fire on a country music concert from the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay hotel. Las Vegas police and SWAT units ascended to the floor where they believe the gunman killed himself before police arrived.
